Extremely rare, signed antique bookends featuring a Gamecock or fighting rooster.  This set is signed by artist Ernest Louis Adnin (1881-1957).  Ca. 1930.  This set is beautifully detailed with very sharp features showing the viciousness of the birds. Each bookend stands 6 1/4" tall, 5 1/8" long, 3" wide and weighs 1 lb. 11 oz. (3 lbs. 6 oz. for the pair).  They are in very good original condition with minor chips on the marble base.  Authenticity is assured as both are incised with the artist's name on the side of the base E. L. Adnin.  Cockfighting originated hundreds of years ago.  There are books from the 1600's referring to it.
