Rare painted set of cast iron antique bookends featuring a pirate with a sword standing guard over a treasure chest.  Circa 1920 by Littlestown Hardware & Foundry, Littlestown, PA. The pirate is a separate figural casting attached with a screw to the one-piece casted iron base and backplate.  The pirate is in the original art deco green paint.  The base and backplate are brass plated cast iron.  Each bookend stands 5 1/4" tall, 4" wide, 3 1/4" deep and weighs 2 lbs. 10 oz. (5 lbs. 4 oz. for the pair).  They are in very good condition.  There is a crack in the center of one sword but no looseness.  They are completely original with no repairs or touch-ups.  Authenticity is assured as there is an original paper label on the bottom of one bookend.  The Littco Company used paper labels exclusively and it is rare to find them still attached.
